The city of Adairsville, Georgia is located in Bartow County and is considered an exurban or extra-urban city. Exurban communities are prosperous communities that tend to lie just beyond suburbs that serve as commuter or bedroom communities to the greater urban area like Adairsville does to the metro Atlanta area. Adairsville has a humid subtropical climate and the city’s vision statement is “Our vision of Adairsville is where our citizens can safely life, work, play, raise a family and retire in a healthy, clean and prosperous community.” Many notable people have called Adairsville home, such as the infamous Pretty Boy Floyd, Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox, singer and member of the Oak Ridge Boys Wally Fowler and Atlanta Braves Player Vic Beasely.

Adairsville began as a Cherokee village before the native tribes were removed from the area in 1838. After their removal the village survived, due to the presence of settlers. One of the early developers of the town was William Watts who helped bring the Western Atlantic Railroad through the area. Watts deeded a portionof land to the railroad and then surveyed and arranged business lots. The town was incorporated in 1854 and the town had a large role in the Civil War with events like the Great Locomotive chase in April of 1862 and the Battle of Adairsville in 1864. In 1840, a beautiful home was built by Sir Godfrey Barnsley though the house is now ruins the gardens and grounds have been renovated and today it is a beautiful golf resort known as Barnsley Gardens. In January of 2013 a devestating tornado tore through the town leaving a bath path of destruction behind, but in the time since the town has nearly recovered showing what they can accomplish by simply working together.

According to the United States Census of 2010, Adairsville has a population of 4,648 and spans 9.1 square miles giving the city a population density of 510 people per square mile. According to, in 2012 the estimated median household income in Adairsville was $37,817 and the estimated per capita income was $14,524. The estimated median house or condo value in the city as of 2012 was $96,059 and the median gross rent was $697. Homes for sale in Adairsville are largely middle class in nature, but do range from starter homes up through luxury homes.
